Police beat June 22
Unauthorized use charge: Marci Lynn Gossic, 39, of 287 E. Buffalo Church Road, Buffalo, was arrested Thursday on a warrant on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Gossic is accused of taking a Ford Focus owned by her mother, Debbie Lynn Kocik, without her permission Dec. 14. Kocik told police Gossic’s license is suspended. Gossic was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in the Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Flee after crash: Police say three passengers fled after a car crashed on Interstate 79 northbound near the Canonsburg exit about 11:10 a.m. Wednesday. State police said Alexander M. Martos, 22, of Washington, was driving at an excessive speed in the right lane when he changed lanes directly in front of a tractor-trailer. Martos lost control and the car went off the road, hitting a concrete overpass and more than 160 feet of guardrail. Police said Martos’ passengers fled after the crash. The three were caught in Canonsburg by Canonsburg and Cecil Township police. One of them, Nickolas Donofrio, 22, of Pittsburgh, was placed in the Washington County jail on a bench warrant. Martos will be charged with failure to drive at a safe speed.
PFA violation alleged: Justin J. Pappa, 34, of 344 Winners Circle, North Strabane, was arrested early Thursday by North Strabane police for allegedly violating a protection-from-abuse order that was obtained by his estranged wife, Christina, and signed Monday by Judge Gary Gilman. Pappa allegedly kicked in the front door to the home at 344 Winners Circle about 3:30 a.m. The order barred him from the house. When officers called for him inside the house, they said he came to the top of the steps holding the hand of his 3-year-old daughter. Police said he told officers that no one was going to stop him from seeing his children. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and released from the Washington County jail after posting $10,000 bond.
Trespass charge: Anh Phuc Le, 43, of Pittsburgh, was charged by state police with criminal trespass after state police at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino determined he was banned from all casinos in the state. Le had tried to buy into a table game, police said. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Faces charge: Cory Wauthier, 20, of 419 Walnut St., Midway, will be charged with retail theft after he allegedly stole $432 in items from Walmart, Trinity Point, Thursday, South Strabane police said. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Retail theft charge: Timothy Herriott, 25, of 21 Herriott Lane, McDonald, will be charged by South Strabane police with retail theft for allegedly stealing two OtterBox cellphone cases, valued at $160, from Verizon Wireless, Trinity Point, June 8. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Retail theft charge: Jennifer Wells, 29, of Roscoe, was arraigned by District Judge Robert Redlinger Friday and charged with retail theft for allegedly attempting to steal two MP3 players from CVS Pharmacy, 175 W Beau St., Nov. 16, 2012. According to police reports, Wells put the mp3 players, valued at $70, in her purse and attempted to leave the store without paying for them. Wells also was arraigned before Redlinger on warrants for a theft charge filed by Roscoe-Elco-Stockdale-Allenport regional police stemming from a May 24 incident in Stockdale. She was also wanted on drug charges filed by Charleroi Regional police. She was placed in the Washington County jail on $60,000 bond.
