Businesses should step up

  • June 23, 2013

Multitudes of friends, relatives, acquaintances and strangers have paid tribute to Vince Kelley, a common man who was killed seeking justice and protecting bank property during a robbery Sunday at the Citizens Bank branch at the Strabane Square Giant Eagle. It would behoove these businesses to honor Vince and financially support his family.

It would be appropriate for them to pay his entire funeral bill and to pay for his one-month old grandson’s college fund. I also suggest a heroic honor given in his behalf to his family from the City of Washington. Is this too much to ask?

Kelley’s life cannot be replaced, but these businesses will continue to thrive at the expense of a human being’s life. The community has stepped up, so now let these businesses do likewise. It seems to me their reputation, honor and dignity is at the forefront of this man’s death.
