Police beat June 25
Driver charged: Dawn M. Meek, 34, of Latrobe, Westmoreland County, was charged by Southwest Regional police with driving under suspension, having passengers in an open truck and seat belt violations following a traffic stop Saturday in the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue, Bentleyville. Police stopped her after seeing two people riding in the bed of her pickup truck. The officer said he also found eight children ranging in age from 7 months to 10 years in the passenger compartment of the truck. None of the children was in car seats or restrained. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson.
Burglary arrest: Pap Djibril Kote, 29, of Poteau, Okla., was arrested Friday on a warrant for allegedly burglarizing a home on Hickory Street, California, May 26, borough police said. He was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis on charges of burglary and loitering and prowling at night. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Theft, forgery charges: Tiffany D. Stewart, 29, of 1030-A Shutterly Ave., California, was arrested Friday on a warrant obtained by California police for allegedly cashing checks stolen from Michelle Powekamp, 225 Third St., last month. Stewart was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis on charges of forgery, theft, theft by deception and receiving stolen property. She was placed in the Washington County jail on $35,000 bond.
Faces DUI charge: Evan R. Chappel, 26, of 627 Highland Ave., Canonsburg, faces a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs after he was found passed out at the wheel of his car at Morganza and Weavertown roads, Canonsburg police said. Police noticed two signal cycles had passed and the vehicle never moved. Chappel was found behind the wheel with the engine running and vehicle in drive. Police said they found a suspected marijuana pipe and grinder in the car. Police said when Chappel got out of the vehicle, he smelled of alcohol. Chappel was taken to Canonsburg General Hospital, where blood was drawn for chemical testing.
Medication stolen: Shari Populo of 2 Maple St., Muse, told Canonsburg police Sunday her medication and medication belonging to her son were stolen along with her purse while she was at Canonsburg Town Park pool Saturday. She later found her purse in a garbage can.
Driver charged: Aubrey O’Dell McDaniel, 50, of 1115 McEwen Ave., Canonsburg, was charged Friday with DUI, false identification, being a habitual offender, driving under suspension, having no inspection and no license plate stemming from a May 25 crash on Gladden Road. Canonsburg police said his blood-alcohol content was almost 3 1/2 times the 0.08 limit presumed for intoxication.
Burglary case: Gregg A. Kubasiak, 27, of 357 McGeary Ave., Monessen, is accused by state police entering the 2110 Main St. residence of Kellie and Michael Enright June 13 and stealing $5,000 worth of jewelry and coins, court records show. Kubasiak is charged with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property. He is in the Washington County jail on $50,000 bond set Friday by District Judge Mark Wilson.
PFA violation: Matthew Hutchison, 33, of 89 Mayview Road, Lawrence, was arrested Saturday by Cecil police for allegedly violating a protection-from-abuse order obtained by Julia Quigley. He is accused of confronting her in the kitchen of their home. He was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in the Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Indecent assault charges: Jonathan A. McDonough, 39, of 1012 Crest Ave., Charleroi, was arrested Saturday by Charleroi Regional police for allegedly fondling a 5-year-old girl earlier this year. He was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $100,000 bond.
PFA violation: Brian Matthew Lewis, 36, of 75 Allen Ave., Donora, was arrested Friday by Donora police for violating a protection-from-abuse order and terroristic threats for allegedly threatening Denylle Fucel at her home at 427 Kenneth Ave. Lewis was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in the Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Woman jailed: Esther Doroshkevich, 23, of 973 Grant Ave., Monessen, is accused of possessing two suspected doses of oxycontin during a traffic stop about 8:15 p.m. June 17 at South McKean Avenue and Chestnut Street, court records show. Borough police charged her with drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is in Washington County Jail on $5,000 bond after being arrested on a warrant and arraigned Monday before District Judge Mark Wilson.
Boats burglarized: David B. Fetsko II, 29, of 209 Jobes St., Elco, was arrested Saturday by Roscoe-Elco-Stockdale-Allenport Regional police after he allegedly burglarized two boats in Elco. Police were alerted after one of the boat owners reportedly confronted him as Fetsko tried to enter his sleeping quarters. Police said they went to Fetsko’s home and found a flat-screen television allegedly stolen from another boat. Fetsko was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft and false identification. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Marijuana, paraphernalia charges: Scott Allen Schrenker, 33, of McKees Rocks, was charged by McDonald police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia after he reportedly was seen going through a stop sign at Washington Avenue and St. Johns Street June 17. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
Underage drinking charge: Anthony J. Lewis, 18, of 1325 Lucia Drive, Canonsburg, and a 15-year-old Cecil Township girl will be charged with underage drinking after North Strabane police were called for a report of a disturbance Saturday on Conklin Road.
One injured: McKinley Grimm, 19, of 2019 Meadowridge Road, North Strabane, was injured Friday afternoon when her vehicle was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by Mark Hall, 52, of Avonmore. North Strabane police said Grimm was stopped with her turn signal on in the left northbound lane of Route 19 at Zeman Road when she was hit from behind by Hall’s pickup truck.
