Charged in assault: Joshua J. Marsh, 31, of Pittsburgh, was charged last week by McDonald police in connection with a June 17 assault at 425 W. Pittsburgh St., Burgettstown. He is accused of assaulting his wife, Kristy Marsh, also of the Pittsburgh Street address, after she reportedly told him that she wanted a divorce. The charges will be sent from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
Charged in crash: George E. Chappel Sr., 51, of 229 Center Ave., Burgettstown, was charged last week by McDonald police with careless driving and criminal mischief stemming from a June 25 crash on Route 18 at Short Street, Burgettstown. Police said his truck rolled down Short, hitting two road signs before striking a pickup truck driven by Christopher Green of Joffre. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
Ring stolen: Denise Tate of 315 Valley View Terrace told Canonsburg police that a gold ring with rubies was stolen from her home.
DUI, other charges: Daniel A. Roach, 25, of 309 Pleasant Valley Road, Bulger, was charged last week by McDonald police with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a crash and several traffic violations stemming from a one-vehicle crash June 16 in the 100 block of Johns Avenue, McDonald. Police located the wrecked vehicle, but Roach was not there. Police said Roach was identified as the driver, and that his blood-alcohol content was double the 0.08 percent limit presumed for intoxication.
Burglary reported: William Wauthier of 419 Walnut St., Midway, told McDonald police June 22 that his home was burglarized. Items stolen from the home included a diamond engagement ring and wedding rings, other jewelry, a revolver, a shotgun and a television.
Charged in traffic stop: Scott Allen Schrenker, 33, of McKees Rocks, was charged last week by McDonald police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia stemming from a June 17 traffic stop on Washington Avenue, Midway. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
Trail gear stolen: Robert Lavelle of Washington told North Franklin police Sunday that his trail camera, 12-volt battery, battery cable and camera cord were stolen from a location off Scenic Drive.
Theft charge: Richard G. Werfel, 29, of 221 Julrich Drive, Peters Township, was charged Friday by North Strabane police with theft for allegedly stealing jewelry, including a diamond engagement ring, from a home at 14 McBride Road on June 4 and selling the items at a pawn shop. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Charged in assault: Ashley N. Matusky, 25, of 8023 Woodcreek Drive, Bridgeville, and Brian J. Leek, 27, of 177 Boone Ave., North Strabane, were arrested Sunday morning for allegedly assaulting each other at Leek’s home, North Strabane police said. They were arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins on charges of simple assault and harassment and each placed in the Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Attempted burglary: An attempt was made early Sunday to break into B&B Tavern, 220 Latimer Ave., North Strabane police said. The would-be burglar broke a window.
Retail theft: A North Strabane Township woman, Kathleen Stevens Joy, was placed in the Washington County jail early Saturday after she was charged with retail theft. Township police said she stole $51.53 in items from T.J. Maxx, Donaldsons Crossroads shopping center, at 6:58 p.m. Friday. Joy, who sometimes uses the last name of Stevens, was observed by store personnel concealing the items in a plastic bag in her purse, police said. Joy, 63, of Fox Chase Drive, has three prior retail theft offenses and was arraigned by District Judge Larry Hopkins. She was placed in jail on $10,000 bond.
Burglary reported: A resident of the 400 block of Bower Hill Road was a patient in the hospital for several weeks, and when she returned home recently, she discovered several pieces of jewelry missing from various locations in her home, township police said. Missing were rings, a necklace and a couple of watches, valued at $2,000, police said. The burglary was reported at 8:12 a.m. Saturday. There are no signs of forced entry, police said.
DUI charge: Alan Bustamante was charged with DUI following an accident at Turkeyfoot and Church Hill roads at 6:59 p.m. Sunday, township police said. When police arrived at the scene, officers located Bustamante and an unidentified female passenger outside the vehicle, which was on its roof. Both occupants refused medical treatment. Bustamante, 52, of Patrick Place, Library, told police he was driving on Church Hill Road near Turkeyfoot Road when he lost control, struck a tree and hit several tree stumps on an embankment. The vehicle rolled onto its roof and slid another 12 feet. Police said they determined Bustamante’s BAC was 0.21 percent. The state presumes intoxication at 0.08 percent.
Marijuana, paraphernalia charges: Terrance Michael Taraba, 23, of 1051 Valleyview Road, Bulger, was charged last week by McDonald police with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia stemming from a June 10 traffic stop on Old Steubenville Pike, Robinson. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Valarie Costanzo.
Deer hit by motorcycle: Ronald Warnick, 57, of Coraopolis, was slightly injured Sunday afternoon when his motorcycle hit a deer on Route 18, South Franklin, state police said.
Two charged: Jay C. Franklin, 27, and Ashley M. Liptak, 28, both of Uniontown, were charged Monday by South Strabane police with retail theft and conspiracy after they allegedly stole a laptop computer June 1 from Walmart, Trinity Point. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Speakers stolen: Salvadore Polacek, 29, of 1415 Water St., Brownsville, was charged Monday by South Strabane police with retail theft for allegedly stealing speakers valued at $358 from Walmart, Trinity Point. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Retail theft charge: Victoria Ann Wisniewski, 39, of Pittsburgh, was charged Monday by South Strabane police with retail theft for allegedly stealing items valued at $317 from Walmart, Trinity Point. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Warrant arrest: Ryan Ellis, 23, of 31 1/2 E. Hallam Ave., Washington, was taken into custody Sunday on a bench warrant by South Strabane police who had responded to an incident at the Waffle House, Murtland Avenue. Ellis was placed in the Washington County jail.
Two face charges: Kenneth Haskey, 26, of 69 Paxton St., Houston, and a 16-year-old Washington boy each face charges stemming from a traffic stop early Saturday by South Strabane police. Police stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver told police that he was taking two passengers to Washington Hospital because they had just been involved in a serious crash in Canton Township. Haskey faces drug charges, while the boy, who had been reported as a runaway to Washington police, will be charged with underage drinking.
Officer assaulted: John Dwzinsky, 56, of 9 Spruce Way, Stockdale, is charged by Roscoe, Elco, Stockdale and Allenport Regional police with aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and resisting arrest, court records show. Dwzinsky is accused of kicking officer Anthony Mosco in the knee and thigh when police responded to his residence about 8:15 p.m. Friday for a fireworks complaint, the affidavit indicates. He also is charged with threatening to hire someone to kill officer Paul Rock. He is in the Washington County jail on $50,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
