Flenniken plans golf fundraiser
CARMICHAELS – Friends of Flenniken Library will hold its third annual golf outing fundraiser Aug. 3 at the Carmichaels Golf Club.
Registration is $240 for a team of four.
The fee includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, coffee and doughnuts, hot dogs after nine holes, lunch following play and chances to win various prizes.
This year, the event has two corporate sponsors, Community Bank and UMWA Local 2258, in addition to the gold and silver sponsorships that help to cover the outing expenses and prize money.
Teams and sponsors may register in person at the library at 102 E. George St., Carmichaels, call 724-966-5263 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Checks should be made out to Friends of the Flenniken Library.
Continuing a three-year tradition, a new handmade counted cross-stitch framed picture raffle will begin at the outing.
Tickets will also be sold at the library and at the Carmichaels Covered Bridge Festival in September.
The Friends also will have the annual used book sale from Aug. 17-31 during regular library hours.
Used books in good condition are now being accepted for the sale at the library.
Please do not include textbooks, encyclopedias, Readers Digest Condensed Books or magazines.
Participants should call ahead if they have large numbers of books to donate, so the library staff can accommodate the donation.
The Friends of the Flenniken Library is a 501c3 nonprofit organization in affiliation with the Pennsylvania Citizens for Better Libraries.
Donations are tax-deductible.
Funds are raised through membership dues, donations and special fundraising events.
All monetary donations and funds are used to support library programs and services.
Some of the organization’s projects in the past year included donating $5,000 toward the renovation of the Kids’ Zone and purchasing new office furniture, a new refrigerator for the break room, window air conditioners and support of the summer reading program field trip.
