Police beat July 4
Assault charges: Laura Faieta, 48, of 101 Pennsylvania Ave., was charged Monday by California police with simple assault and harassment for allegedly assaulting Robin Rice at the Italian Club, 12 Pennsylvania Ave., June 23. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Burglary: Dana Popovich of Charleroi told state police her handbag containing $335 was stolen from a residence on Coyle Curtain Road June 24.
Theft: George Omcikus told state police about 50 feet of copper pipe was stolen from a property on Terrace Drive between June 16 and Sunday.
Three charged: Robbin Lynn Craig, 50, of 25 Ramsey Road, North Franklin Township, and Megan Angelone, 33, and Wesley V. Miller, 23, of 240 N. College St., Washington, were charged by South Strabane police in connection with the theft of items last month from Walmart, Trinity Point. Angelone allegedly stole items and gave them to Miller to return for a gift card. Craig, who drove the vehicle, also was seen stealing items on another occasion, police said, and Angelone reportedly was in possession of a hypodermic needle. Craig is charged with conspiracy, retail theft, theft by deception and receiving stolen property. Angelone is charged with retail theft, conspiracy, receiving stolen property and possession of paraphernalia. Miller is charged with theft by deception, conspiracy and receiving stolen property. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Truck stolen: A 2005 white GMC box truck owned by Barr Vending was stolen Tuesday from near a service corridor at Tanger Outlets, South Strabane police said. The driver, Nick Speer of Lower Burrell, told police he left the truck with the keys inside while he filled vending machines in the shopping outlet. He told police when he returned an hour later, the truck was gone. Inside the truck were $2,000 in products and $1,000 in cash.
Assault arrest: John McClain, 49, who Washington police said is homeless, was arrested Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment for allegedly hitting Charles Cole in the head with a baseball bat while the two were at the intersection of Ewing Street and Hillside Avenue. McClain was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in the Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Cross stolen: Demoreze Betts of 680 Broad St. told Washington police Tuesday a cross containing his brother’s ashes was stolen from his home.
Debit card, cash stolen: Roger Gray Sr. of 395 Donnan Ave. told Washington police Wednesday his debit card and $66 were stolen from his wallet.
Vehicles damaged: Washington police said windows were broken Wednesday on five vehicles parked in the 100 block of West Walnut Street.
