Heavy rains that moved through northern Washington County at about 8:30 a.m. caused street and basement flooding in northern Washington County, including Canonsburg, Burgettstown, Midway, McDonald, Cecil Township and Peters Township. Route 19 in Peters Township was hit hard, with Huntington Learning Center and Pizzazz Pizza having floodwaters in their buildings. A number of vehicles also became disabled in high water in the Cecil and Peters area.

Several roads remain closed as the cleanup continues. The area may get a second round of storms around rush hour. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 8 p.m. for Washington and Allegheny counties. A flash flood watch also remains in effect for all of Southwestern Pennsylvania through 6 a.m. Thursday. State police are advising workers to check their route home in case they need to find an alternate way there.
