Carmichaels man dies in crash

  • July 22, 2013

A car accident early Sunday morning in Greene Township claimed the life of a 22-year-old Carmichaels man.

State police said Timothy Joseph Morris was driving north about 2:45 a.m. on Route 2017, South Branch Muddy Creek Road, when he failed to negotiate a curve. Morris’s Ford Focus went off the road and struck a tree head-on.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple injuries by Greene County Deputy Coroner Mary Lewis.

A Carmichaels Area High School graduate, Morris was currently an honors student at California University of Pennsylvania studying psychology.

In 2008, Morris was one of eight culinary arts students from the Greene County Career and Technology Center who was selected to attend the inauguration of President Barack Obama in Washington, D.C.

Culinary arts program instructor Dan Wagner said he was shocked and saddened to hear of Morris’s death.

“Tim was an exemplary student and just a great all-around kid,” Wagner said. “He still came to visit me about three times a year.”

Wagner said Morris was the kind of student who would mentor other students and often took the time to tutor them in math and English.
