Search to resume for teenager missing in Pa. creek
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Rescue crews plan to resume searching Wednesday morning for a teenager missing in a creek in northeastern Philadelphia.
Officials say the 15-year-year-old was with several friends near Pennypack Creek on Tuesday afternoon.
They said he went into the water with one of his friends but was carried away by the swift current.
Officials said the other youths ran along the banks trying to keep the victim in sight but finally lost sight of him.
Emergency crews, police and the marine unit were called to the scene and searched for several hours.
Earlier in the day, officials said, the heavy rains that swept through the region caused water in the creek to rise.
