: Police beat Aug. 15

Two injured: Maria K. Milliken, 47, and Alex Milliken, 8, both of Eighty Four, were injured Monday when the vehicle driven by Maria Milliken was hit from behind by a tractor-trailer driven by Billy M. Moore Jr., 51, of Tyler, Texas. The crash happened on Interstate 70 east near the Jessop Place exit, Canton. Both Millikens were taken to Washington Hospital for treatment. Moore was charged with following too closely.

Sexual harassment: James Owen Spell, 49, of 448 N. Main St., Washington, was charged Tuesday by state police with indecent assault and harassment for allegedly sexually harassing a co-worker at Wendy’s, West Chestnut Street, Canton. The alleged victim told police that Spell touched her inappropriately on several occasions between March and June. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.


Faces charges: Evan J. Coss, 24, of 1000 Spring St., McDonald, was charged Wednesday by McDonald police with reckless endangerment, possession of paraphernalia, driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance and careless driving after almost hitting a McDonald police officer who was conducting a traffic stop early Sunday on East Barr Street. Officer Richard France heard an engine and saw the Ford Mustang, driven by Coss, approaching him at increasing speed. Police said he had been drinking and had marijuana in his system. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Valarie Costanzo.

Paraphernalia charge: Rodney David Shaw, 40, of 308 E. Barr St., McDonald, was charged Wednesday by McDonald police after officer found 25 empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and a metal spoon with white residue while serving a felony arrest warrant on him Aug. 4. The new charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Valarie Costanzo.


Charged in crash: Jose L. Holdan, 62, of Pittsburgh, was charged Wednesday by McDonald police in connection with a July 25 crash on Washington Road, Robinson. Holdan was found laying on the road when police arrived after crashing his van into an embankment. Charges of DUI and several traffic violations will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Valarie Costanzo.


Rig overturns: Alexander Bonsu, 43, of West Chester, Ohio, was slightly injured when his tractor-trailer went off Interstate 70 near the Bentleyville exit early Wednesday, hit the embankment and guard rail. The rig then went 200 feet down a hill into a wooded area, state police said.

One injured: Jason G. Straka, 29, of Smock, was slightly injured Wednesday afternoon when his vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by Michael A. Stanley, 23 of Shreveport, La., as he tried to switch lanes with his rig. State police said Straka’s vehicle then spun around, hitting a barrier.


Shoplifting arrrest: Heather Diane Martino, 23, of 104 Beacon Lane, Butler, was charged with shoplifting and concealing seven items from Lowes, Strabane Square, at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday. Police said she planned to return the items to obtain a gift card she could sell. District Judge James Ellis set bond at $2,500 for Martino, who was lodged in the county jail.
