Man accused of assaulting ex-girlfriend in Claysville
A Chartiers Township man is in Washington County jail after turning himself in to authorities to face charges he assaulted his former girlfriend in Claysville Sunday.
Chadwick Crowe, 35, of 852 Governors Circle, is accused of punching Emma Morgan in the face and knocking her to the ground as she walked on Main Street near Wayne Street.
Donegal Township police Officer Adam Fichter was called about 5 p.m. for a report of woman who had been assaulted and was on the ground. When he arrived, Fichter found Morgan facedown on the sidewalk. She was bleeding from the mouth, had bruising on the jaw and bruising and swelling on her right eye.
Morgan and a person who was with her identified Crowe as her attacker.
Morgan was taken to Washington Hospital and then transferred to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. Township police Sgt. Ronald Catrain Jr. said Morgan had teeth broken in the assault, and her lower jaw was broken in several places. She was released from the Pittsburgh hospital but has to return Friday for surgery. Her face was too swollen for the doctors to perform the surgery while she was in the hospital earlier this week, Catrain explained.
Police obtained a warrant for Crowe on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment from District Judge Ethan Ward, and Crowe turned himself in at Ward’s office Wednesday morning. He was arraigned and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond, and also faces a probation detainer. A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 3 before Ward.
