Betty Jane Findling, 85, of Eldersville, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013, in her home, following a brief bout with cancer.


She was born November 27, 1927, a daughter of the late Kenneth James Sr. and Elsie Mae Arnold Alloway.


Mrs. Findling had been employed by G.C. Murphy Co. in Burgettstown, Bobbie Brooks Co. in Washington and also owned and operated her own beauty shop in her home.


She was a member of Eldersville United Methodist Church and the Christmas in the Village team, volunteering many hours helping to organize the annual, highly successful event in the village of Eldersville.


She was an excellent quilter, making many beautiful quilts throughout the years and an avid dirt track racing fan.


Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Jean Findling Ford, wife of David of Eldersville; son John L. Findling Jr., husband of Patricia Restanio Findling of Eldersville; grandchildren, Scott Ford, John L. (Renee) Findling III, Jenna (Tim) Zeh and Jared Findling; great-granddaughters, Maryn and Shalyn Findling and Lauren and Layla Zeh.


Deceased are her husband, John L. Findling Sr.; brother Kenneth James Alloway Jr.; and sisters Norma Mae (Charles) Smith and Nancy Yvonne (Edgar Ray) Potts.


Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, with Pastor Raymond King officiating. Interment will follow in Cross Creek Cemetery.


The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Washington Health System Foundation, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
