Kierra Jean Falbo, daughter of Joseph and Sharon Falbo of Venetia, was inducted into Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she is majoring in biomedical engineering. Falbo is a 2012 graduate of Peters Township High School.


Chelsea Hardy graduated cum laude from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in disability services with minors in psychology and special education. Hardy completed her internship with Indiana Head Start and is pursuing a master of science degree in counseling psychology at Chatham University. She is employed by NHS Human Services. Hardy is a 2009 graduate of Charleroi High School, and her parents are Forrest Hardy and Tracey Tabron.


Shannon Smith was named to the dean’s list at Penn State University, where she is majoring in biological engineering with a minor in environmental engineering. She is a 2010 graduate of Peters Township High School, and her parents are Patrick and Maureen Smith of McMurray.


Julianne Popivchak graduated summa cum laude from Slippery Rock University, where she majored in exercise science/pre-physical therapy 3+3. Popivchak was vice president of the pre-physical therapy club, a research assistant for the university’s student health assessment project survey and a member of the honors program and Golden Key International. She is enrolled in the doctorate of physical therapy program at Slippery Rock. Popivchak is a 2010 graduate of McGuffey High School, and her parents are Gregory and Linda Popivchak of Washington.


Sarah Stockdale, daughter of John and Mary Sumney of Washington graduated from West Virginia University, where she earned a master’s degree in nursing and family nurse practitioner. She is a member of MSN and FNP-C. Stockdale is a 2004 graduate of Trinity High School and is employed by University Health Associates in digestive diseases.


Chelsea Sumney graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she majored in speech language pathology. Sumney was named to the dean’s list and chancellor’s list. She was a Division I athlete, competing in cross country and outdoor and indoor track, a member of the Golden Chain Honor Society and the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association, and was named to the Southern Conference All-Academic team. She attends graduate school at UNCG. Sumney is a 2009 graduate of Trinity High School, and her parents are John and Mary Sumney of Washington.

Sherry Yancosek of Washington graduated with honors from California University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in nursing and obtained a master of science degree in nursing administration and leadership. Her parents are Gloria Borkowski of Washington and the late William Borkowski. She is a graduate of Washington High School and a program coordinator for the practical nursing program at Penn Commercial Business/Technical School and a registered nurse in the Washington Health System constant care unit. Her children are Matthew and Karly Yancosek of Washington.
