PIAA to hear Wash High appeal on Thursday
The PIAA will hear Washington High School’s appeal to restore forfeited football games in a teleconference call 1 p.m. Thursday.
The WPIAL forced Washington to forfeit five victories for using an ineligible player, which will keep them out of the playoffs.
Quorteze Levy, a senior wide receiver, was declared ineligible because he was playing in his fifth season of varsity sports. The PIAA allows only eight semesters. Levy repeated ninth grade after transferring from Michigan and had used up his eligibility after last season.
The WPIAL Board of Control did grant Levy a waiver for two additional semesters of eligibility but did not make it retroactive.
