Fishing for a clue

  • November 3, 2013
These three boys display their catch at a 1985 picnic. The boy in the center is wearing a T-shirt bearing the logo of the former Stone Crab Inn, while the boy on the right shows his Prexie Pride. But who are they?

There’s no mystery about when this week’s Mystery Photo was taken – it was June 28, 1985. And it’s almost certain the event was the annual picnic for carriers of the Observer-Reporter. But exactly who these boys are is a bit of a puzzle.

One of our staff photographers was assigned by the circulation department to attend the event, and many photos were taken. But it’s not likely that this picture or any other from the picnic was published in the newspaper.

We’d like to find out who these kids are, where they are now and what has happened in their lives over the past 28 years. Is the boy on the right still a fan of the Washington High School Little Prexies?

If you think you can identify them, email Park Burroughs, retired executive editor, at, or call and leave a message for him at 724-222-2200, extension 2400.

With a little luck and assistance from our readers, we may be able to let them know next Monday what became of their newspaper carriers.
