Police beat Nov. 14
ID theft: John S. Gudel, 33, of 1219 Crest Ave., Charleroi, is charged by township police with identity theft, bad checks, theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy, court records show. Police accuse him of conspiring with Raquel M. Gazboda, 25, of Monessen, to steal a bank check from her grandmother, Donna Gazboda, and use it to steal $550 by cashing it Aug. 3 at a Mon Valley Community Credit Union branch on Route 88. Raquel Gazboda has yet to be apprehended. Gudel is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond after being arrested on a warrant and arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Mark Wilson.
Copper stolen: An employee of Pennsylvania Transformer, Curry Avenue, told North Strabane police Tuesday that copper hinges and ground plates were stolen from the property.
Theft charges: Catelynn Lushia, 19, and Chip Ravon Riley, 25, both of Eighty Four, will be charged by state police with retail theft after she allegedly put $82.43 in groceries in a bag and gave it to him while she was working at Kwik Fill, Route 519, Somerset. Riley left the store without paying for the items, police said. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson.
Injured people identified: State police have identified the two people injured in a crash about 9 p.m. Friday on S Bridge Road near Knight Lane, South Franklin. The driver was Joseph Desmond, 28, of Washington, and the passenger was Shekinah Ramey, 24, also of Washington. Desmond was going south when his vehicle hit an embankment, flipped on its roof and slid 28 feet. Both were ejected from the vehicle. They were flown to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.
Employee charged: Timothy Rager, 24, of 414 Old Route 71, Charleroi, faces theft charges after he allegedly stole three iPads from the layaway area while working at Toys ‘R’ Us Tuesday, South Strabane police said. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
DUI arrest: Kodi Michael Foley, 21, of 1412 E. Maiden St., Washington, was charged by South Strabane police with driving under the influence of alcohol after he allegedly drove off the driveway at Old Trails, 669 E. National Pike, Monday night. Police said his vehicle went over an embankment and hit small trees before shearing off a gas meter. Police said Foley then left the accident scene and was found a short time later at his home. According to police, his blood-alcohol content was almost 2 1/2 times the 0.08 percent limit presumed for intoxcation.
Juvenile jailed: Tavian Hooper, 15, of 916 Ewing St., Washington, was charged by city police with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and aggravated assault in connection with an incident July 28 at 660 Addison St., Washington. Hooper allegedly punched and pistol-whipped Vidal Alvarez Herrera and conspired with two others to commit burglary and assault. Hooper was taken to Washington County jail Wednesday on $10,000 bond. Charges are pending against two other suspects.
