Thanks to Bill DiFabio for the great article on Doug Kotar, the football player from Muse, which appeared in the Sunday edition of the Observer-Reporter.
It brought back some wonderful memories. I had the pleasure of playing with Kotar for two years at Cecil Junior High School and two years at Canon-McMillan High School. Bob Johnson, the former head coach at Trinity High School said “It was an honor just to watch him play.” Yes, it truly was. He was an incredible athlete.
Kotar never forgot his roots. My last meeting with him was at a summer softball game. He was playing with the New York Giants at the time. He made it a point to come over before the game and say hello. That was how he was and how I will always remember him.
