Lawless scores 31 as Mikes remain perfect
Brandon Lawless had 31 points as Carmichaels withstood a strong fourth quarter surge by Frazier to remain unbeaten with a 57-55 nonsection victory Tuesday night in a boys high school basketball game.
Ty Aeschbacher added 15 points, while Justin Newman had 11 for the Mikes (2-0), who led 45-33 entering the fourth quarter, only to have Frazier (1-1) get back into the game with a barrage of three-pointers.
Charles Manack led Frazier with 19 points, while Roger Cline added 14 for the Commodores.
Trinity 53, Bishop Canevin 43: Nick Moretti had 20 points as Trinity jumped out to a 16-0 lead and coasted to a 53-43 nonsection win over Bishop Canevin.
Avery King added 18 points for the Hillers, who improved to 2-1.
Dom Palmosino led Canevin (0-1) with 16 points.
Jefferson-Morgan 59, Mapletown 47: Rece Henneman had 21 points as Jefferson-Morgan pulled away at the end against Mapletown for a 59-47 nonsection victory.
Christian Randolph added 14 points for the Rockets (2-2), who outscored the Maples (1-1) 23-12 in the fourth quarter.
Dana White had 17, Derreck Riggleman 16 and Eric Atwood 12 points, respectively, for the Maples.
Burgettstown 72, Charleroi 66: Four players scored in double figures as Burgettstown shot past Charleroi, 72-66, in a nonsection game.
Ryan Christy had a game-high 16 points for the Blue Devils (1-2). Hunter Lecker tossed in 14 points, Logan Triebsch 13 and Tylar Linke 12. Cole LaRocka had nine points and nine rebounds.
Jon Arnold had 20 points and Ryan Konek scored 15 for the Cougars. Evan Anderson chipped in 12 and Matt Indorante 11.
Burgettstown sealed the win by hitting nine of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter.
Quaker Valley 67, Fort Cherry 52: Quaker Valley sank 30 of 34 free throws to spark a 67-52 victory over Fort Cherry in a nonsection game.
Tyler Garbee hit all eight of his and finished with 16 points for QV (3-0).
Qadar Taylor scored 15 points and Winter Fondi added 13 points.
Zak Dysert paced Fort Cherry (0-2) with 14 points. Sean Darragh chipped in with 10.
Allderdice 73, Peters Township 59: The Moultrie brothers combined for 25 points to help Allderdice to a 73-59 victory over Peters Township in a nonsection game.
Davaughn Moultrie had 15 and Javaughn Moultrie 10 for Allderdice (3-0).
Connor Freely scored 16 for Peters Township (1-2). Nick Carella added 14 and J.C. Brush 13.
Norwin 68, Monessen 63: Norwin parlayed a 20-11 lead in the first quarter into a 68-63 victory over Monessen in the Franklin Regional Tournament.
Monessen will play the loser of the game between Westinghouse and Franklin Regional in the consolations at 6 p.m. tonight.
Curtis Perz had a game-high 33 points for the Knights (2-1),
Clintell Gillaspie scored 22 points for the Greyhounds (0-3). Lavelle Rush and Javon Brown each scored 16 points.
Chartiers-Houston 78, California 60: A.J. Myers, A.J. Williamson and Kodie Hanley combined for 53 points as Chartiers-Houston downed California, 78-60, in a nonsection game.
Myers led the way with 19 points for C-H (3-0). Hanley and Wiliamson each scored 17 points. Hanley had 12 rebounds and six blocks and Williamson 15 rebounds. Alec Ferrari also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists.
Austin Wingo led Cal (0-1) with 14 points. Demetri Clement chipped in with 13. Tray Matthews tossed in 10.
Waynesburg 81, West Greene 43: Dom Sarra scored a game-high 25 points to propel Waynesburg to an 81-43 victory over West Greene in a nonsection game.
Corey Dispenza contributed 11 points for the Raiders (2-1), who led 39-17 at halftime.
Colton Rush scored 11 points and Craig Weaver added 10 for the Pioneers (1-1).
Mapletown 70, Bentworth 43: Derrick Riggleman scored a game-high 29 points to power Mapletown to a 70-43 victory over Bentworth in a nonsection game Monday night.
Eric Atwood contributed 19 points and Ben Boone threw in 12 for the Maples (1-1).
Angelo Rios-Lopez led the Bearcats (0-1), who trailed 34-14 at halftime, with 15 points.
West Greene 46, Beth-Center 16: Madison Raber had 22 points and 10 rebounds as West Greene defeated Beth-Center, 46-16, in a nonsection game.
