Police beat Dec. 13
Theft charge: Jessica N. Faenze, 24, of 19 Murtland Ave., Washington, was charged Wednesday with theft for allegedly stealing $120 from Tracy Barringer at 238 E. College St., Canonsburg, Dec. 7, borough police said. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Shop burglarized: Money and a GPS unit were reported stolen Wednesday in a break-in at L&M Flower Shop, 42 W. Pike St., Canonsburg police said.
Charged after stop: Gregory K. Gayle Sr., 49, of 88 Mesta Drive, Canton, was charged Wednesday by state police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and having a prohibited offensive weapon. When he was stopped on Interstate 70 in Canton, police said they found him with the suspected drugs and brass knuckles. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Two injured: Anthony Conforti, 81, of Pittsburgh, and his passenger, Nancy Conforti, also of Pittsburgh, were injured Sunday afternoon when their vehicle went off Interstate 79 southbound near the Southpointe interchange, hit an embankment and rolled over, state police said.
Gambling charge: Gopal Ganti, 34, of 7121 Clubhouse Drive, Presto, was charged by state police with a gambling violation after he allegedly was caught capping his bets during a Texas Hold ’Em game Wednesday at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino, North Strabane. Surveillance video reportedly shows him distracting the dealer and adding chips to his original bet to win an additional $500. Police said he returned the additional winnings. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Brothers missing: Anthony Perry, 15, and Austin Perry, 17, were reported to North Strabane police Wednesday by their father as runaways from their home as 123 Wylie Ave., Strabane. Neither boy went to school. The younger boy attends Canon-McMillan High School, while the older attends Clark School in Washington. Both are white with brown hair, brown eyes and thin builds. Anthony is 5 feet, 1inch tall and weighs 125 pounds. Austin is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds.
DUI charge: Benjamin J. Fassinger, 33, of 418 Ridge Ave., Canonsburg, will be charged by North Strabane police with driving under the influence of alcohol after he allegedly was found Wednesday in the 1200 block of Route 519 slumped over the wheel of his vehicle with the engine running. Police said they had difficulty getting him to wake up, and that his blood-alcohol content was almost double the 0.08 percent limit presumed for intoxication. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Trailer stolen: A 2012 landscape trailer was reported stolen Wednesday morning from Bill Gray Volvo, 2987 Washington Road, Peters police said.
Two charged: Lauren Newton, 34, and Alex Hockett, 26, both of 311 W. Maiden St., North Franklin Township, were charged Wednesday by South Strabane police with retail theft. They are accused of failing to ring up 20 items valued at $204 while going through the self-checkout at Walmart, Trinity Point, Sunday. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Shoes stolen: Ashley L. Brooks, 27, of 335 Baird Ave., Washington, was charged Wednesday by South Strabane police with misdemeanor retail theft for allegedly stealing a pair of tennis shoes from Gabriel Brother’s, Northgate Plaza, Dec. 3. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Theft, conspiracy charges: Angie Marie Cox, 21, of 346 N. Porter St., Waynesburg, was charged Wednesday by South Strabane police with theft by deception and conspiracy. She is accused of returning items Nov. 25 at Walmart, Trinity Point, that were stolen earlier that day by an unidentified woman, and receiving merchandise and a store gift card. Police said Cox and the other woman were seen on surveillance in the same vehicle in the parking lot. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Wrong-way driver: Dylan T. Cook, 28, of Sugar Grove, N.C., was charged Monday by state police with DUI of alcohol and marijuana, driving the wrong way and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia stemming from an Oct. 26 incident on Interstate 79 near the Meadowlands exit, South Strabane. Police said they spotted him driving south in the northbound lanes of the highway, and that his BAC was 2 1/2 times the 0.08 percent limit presumed for intoxication. He also allegedly had marijuana in his system. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Retail theft charge: Daniel R. Cordera, 29, of Canonsburg, was arraigned Thursday on a charge of retail theft for allegedly stealing $1,400 in fragrances from Saks Fifth Avenue at Tanger Outlets Aug. 31. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Warrant arrest: David A. Earlywine, 44, of 696 McCarrell Ave., Washington, was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on a warrant on charges of flight to avoid apprehension and driving under suspension. Earlywine is accused of running from South Strabane police Oct. 14 during a traffic stop on the ramp to Interstate 70 eastbound at Route 19. Police said he was found hiding near a car dealership. He was placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Simple assault: Javarr M. Thomas, 18, of 95 Sumner Ave., Washington, was arraigned on simple assault and disorderly conduct charges after he allegedly assaulted a woman at 246 Lincoln Terrace Thursday. The alleged victim told city police that Thomas hit her several times in the head, grabbed her by the neck and pulled her across the floor. Police said Thomas also got into a fight with the victim’s father. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Jan.6. Thomas is out on bond. He is not to have contact with the alleged victim.
