Turner’s 30 points send Saint Vincent past W&J

Isaac Turner scored 30 points and Saint Vincent sank 11 of 19 three-point field goal attempts to roll past Washington & Jefferson, 92-66, in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game Monday.

Saint Vincent moved to 2-0 in the conference and 8-2 overall. W&J fell to 2-1 in the conference and 5-3 overall.

Turner sank nine of 18 shots and nine of 10 free throws for the Bearcats. Dillon Stith scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds. J.C. Howard had 10.

Turner sank 3 of 5 from three-point range and Howard, Ben Klimchock, and Pat Jones each had two.

Nate Bellhy had a double-double for the Presidents, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Mitch Locher came off the bench to score 14 points and Mike Resnik added 13.

W&J women routed by Saint Vincent: Washington & Jefferson fell behind by 22 points at halftime and dropped a 75-55 decision to Saint Vincent in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game Monday night at the Carey Center.

The Bearcats (3-0 PAC, 5-2) limited W&J (2-1 PAC, 4-3) to just 24 percent shooting (16 of 67) and forced 21 turnovers. Saint Vincent’s bench also outscored W&J’s 33-3.

Elle Collins led all scorers with 20 points and knocked down two free throws four seconds before halftime for a 45-23 at the break. SVC opened the game with a 26-7 run midway through the first half to build a 36-15 lead at the 4:26 mark after a three-pointer by Hannah Carroll.

The Presidents got as close as 49-44 at the 11:12 mark after junior guard Alexa DelGreco’s triple.

The gap was narrowed to five twice more during the next six minutes, but the Bearcats answered with a basket each time and eventually pulled away.

W&J outrebounded Saint Vincent, 55-44, but Saint Vincent shot 35 percent (24 of 68). Taylor Mathers had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Beka Bellhy had 14 points and 11 rebounds, Valerie Dunlap 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Chelsea Apke eight points and 10 rebounds.
