COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Police say a resident of a special needs group home was shot to death by an officer after threatening another person with a knife.

Investigators say the man was shot Friday night at the Association for the Developmentally Disabled group home. Police say they received a 911 call from a woman saying she had locked herself in a bathroom because a client was threatening her.

The man’s name was not released pending notification of his family.

Officials say two care workers and another resident were present at the time. No other injuries were reported.
