Wrestling: Trinity stops CV

Trinity rebounded from a 15-6 deficit after four bouts to register a 43-30 Section 4-A win Saturday over Chartiers Valley in a Class AAA high school wrestling meet.

Michael Kolosky, Tristan Buxton, Geno Cecchine, Devin Kelly and Justin Ritter recorded pins for the Hillers (2-1, 3-1).

Noah Wilps and Colin Eger had falls for Chartiers Valley (1-2, 1-2).

Canon-McMillan wins tournament: Canon-McMillan had just one gold medalist, but 13 placewinners, as the Big Macs won the Naples, Fla. tournament, edging North Pointe, Fla.

Brendan Price won the individual title at 113 pounds, while Matt O’Block (120), Dalton Macri (126) amd Malachi Krenzelak (145) were second-place finishers.

Alec Rideout (220) finished third, while Josiah Hritsko (132), Nick Konek (170) and Brendan Furman (Hvy) all finished fourth.

McGuffey ninth at Tool City: Gage Nicolella won the 106-pound championship as McGuffey finished ninth in the team standings at the Tool City Tournament in Meadville.

Ryan Stienstraw was second at 220 pounds, while Tyler Harris was sixth at 152 pounds for the Highlanders.

Jefferson-Morgan 68, Baldwin 12: Jefferson-Morgan had Baldwin to two wins in taking a 68-12 victory in a no-section dual meet.

Austin Goldsberry (132), John Demaske (138), Parker Woodring (152), Anthony Patterson (195) each won by fall for the Rockets (9-2). Brendan Howard (113) won by technical fall. De-Adrian Carter (106) and Nick Zewe (126) had pins for Baldwin.
