Police beat Feb. 9
Robbery: A Fayette County man is in Washington County jail following an alleged incident Saturday morning at an off-campus house for California University of Pennsylvania students. Borough police reported that Charles Wills Redmond, 18, of Dickerson Run, entered a residence on Shutterly Street around 9 a.m., put a gun to a person’s head and asked for “weed,” then fled with marijuana, an Xbox and an iPhone. The victim, who was unnamed, knew the accused and provided his name. Redmond was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, harassment and disorderly conduct and was held on $10,000 straight bond following a video arraignment before District Justice Curtis Thompson. The incident prompted a campuswide alert.
Juvenile flees: State police in Washington reported that Jordan J. Thomas, 16, ran away from the Mel Blount Youth Home, 6 Mel Blount Drive, at 6:45 p.m. Friday.
Burglary: State police in Washington reported someone pried open the rear door of a residence on Lee Road, removed two laptop computers and several pieces of jewelry, then fled through the same door. Police said the incident occurred between noon and 7:40 p.m. Thursday at the home of James A. Valenti, 54, and Dolly A. Valenti, 56.
Drug charges: Two Ohio men are facing drug charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 70 at 9 p.m. Friday. State police Trooper Melinda J. Brandt reported that she pulled over a vehicle at Exit 25 eastbound and found suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the possession of Jeremy D. Meszaros, 35, of Hilliard, and Nicholas M. Davis, 21, of Grove City, The suspects were arraigned before District Justice Curtis Thompson.
