On Feb. 12, former Mayor Ray Nagin of New Orleans, who held office during Hurricane Katrina in 2006, was convicted of taking bribes.
Notable in his time as mayor, money intended for levee upkeep was spent elsewhere, adding to the damage Katrina caused.
When I think of New Orleans during Katrina I think of the damage, the lost lives, and Kanye West, who I did not know when he made the outlandish comment that President Bush did not care about black people. Perhaps West should reconsider where he looks to point blame.
Someone may want to remind West that President Bush also committed more than $50 billion to fight AIDS in Africa, well before Katrina.
