PITTSBURGH (AP) – Bald eagles in a Pittsburgh neighborhood have welcomed second and third eggs to their nest.

Officials said the 5-year-old female nesting in the Hays neighborhood along the Monongahela River laid the first egg Wednesday, a second Friday and a third on Tuesday.

The eggs are expected to hatch in late March. The pair also came to the area last spring and raised a chick, but their first nest later collapsed. The new nest is about 100 yards away.

Bald eagle pairs are active on two additional sites in Allegheny County. More than 200 nest sites have been reported in the commonwealth.
