Police beat Feb. 27
Assault charges: Brandon A. Martin, 28, of 140 Thompson Ave., Donora, was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment after borough police said he struck his pregnant girlfriend in the face several times and tried to choke her at their home Tuesday night.
One-vehicle accident: A Pittsburgh man was injured Tuesday when he swerved to miss a deer and struck a tree in the 100 block of Sienna Trail, Eighty Four, township police said. Jeffrey Clement, 35, of 1227 Highmain St., complained of shin pain and a headache, but said he would go to a hospital on his own.
Theft reported: A manager at Manor Care, 113 W. McMurray Road, McMurray, reported to township police Tuesday that when a staff member went to retrieve belongings from a lock box for a resident who was leaving the nursing home, it was discovered an envelope containing $450 was missing.
Guns stolen: An employee of a restaurant in the 4200 block of Washington Road told township police he believes two handguns were stolen from his vehicle two weeks ago while the car was parked in the restaurant lot. The employee provided police with the name of a possible suspect.
Indecent assault charges: Kevin L. Kessler, 54, of 984 Jefferson Ave., Washington was arraigned on indecent assault charges Wednesday before District Judge Robert Redlinger. Kessler allegedly groped a woman several times on Feb. 7 at a home on Linn Avenue and offered her money not to tell anyone. Kessler is free on $10,000 unsecured bond. A preliminary hearing has been set for March 12 before Redlinger.
