Pete Cepaitis Jr., 87, of Monongahela, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, in his home.

He was born January 19, 1927 in New Eagle, a son of the late Pete Sr. and Anna Miller Cepaitis.

For 41 years, he worked as a foreman for Conrail Railroad, until his retirement in 1987.

Mr. Cepaitis served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Transfiguration Church, in Monongahela, AARP, Veterans of Foreign Wars 1409 and American Legion Post 302, all of Monongahela.

Mr. Cepaitis enjoyed spending time with his family, sitting on his porch soaking up the sun, talking to animals, playing the lottery and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Anna M. Thomas Cepaitis, whom he married April 23, 1949; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tom and Lu Cepaitis of Washington and Mark Cepaitis of Southpointe; three daughters, Terry Cepaitis of Maryland, Patty Cocciolone of Monessen and Anita Cepaitis and fiancé Mark Wukovich of Monongahela; a brother, Joe and wife Vanna Cepaitis of Donora; a brother-in-law, Al Thomas and wife Lundie of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Heather, Amy, Jamie, Shelby, and Taylor; six great-grandchildren; and extended family members Teri and Joe Barone of Monongahela and Cliff Goodrow of Southpointe.

Deceased are two brothers, Edward and William Cepaitis.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767,, where prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Transfiguration Church, with Father William Terza, as celebrant. At the family’s request, interment will be private and held in Monongahela Cemetery. The Mid-Mon Valley Shipmates will conduct a two-bell service at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
