Teen arrested on drug charges

A 19-year-old who has addresses in both Canonsburg and Pittsburgh was arrested Sunday when the Washington County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force served search warrants in Chartiers and North Strabane townships.

Dezmick Montel Matthews was taken into custody along with a juvenile at a home at 669 N. Main St. in Chartiers. The task force, assisted by police from the two townships, also seized $1,230 along with 164 stamp bags of suspected heroin.

Detectives also served a search warrant at a home on Chartiers Street in the village of Strabane.

Matthews was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on chargers of possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin. He was placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond.
