Avella man wanted on warrant

  • April 5, 2014

State police have obtained an arrest warrant for an Avella man wanted on charges of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, simple assault, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and harassment.

George L. Droboj, 38, is accused of grabbing the steering wheel of the vehicle being driven by his wife, Laura Droboj, on South Hewitt Avenue near Malone Ridge Road about 3:50 p.m. Saturday during an argument. He forced the vehicle into the opposite lane. After the vehicle came to rest, the wife got out of the vehicle along with the two children, ages 8 and 9, and started to walk away.

As Droboj reportedly sped away, he tried to get them back in the vehicle. He then turned around and began down the hill toward them. He then stopped and his wife tried to reach in and retrieve their daughter’s jacket, but he then sped away in an unknown direction.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call state police at 724-223-5200.
