Police beat April 10
Assault charge: Dawn Byrd, 45, of 54 Stonecrest Lane, Cecil, was charged with assaulting her son with a knife in her home, township police said. The incident occurred at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Byrd was arraigned before Senior District Judge Jay Dutton, released on $2,500 unsecured bond and ordered to desist from violence against her son, police said.
Bench warrant: Jeremiah Atkinson, 23, of 282 Muse Bishop Road, was picked up on a bench warrant at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in his home, and was taken directly to the Washington County jail, township police said. Police did not say why the bench warrant was issued. Peters Township police assisted.
Drug arrest: Joshua M. Jenkins, 24, of 437 Third Ave., New Eagle, was charged by city police with drug possession with intent to deliver, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia, court records show. He is accused of having five stamp bags of heroin when police approached him during an apparent drug deal about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Main Street in New Eagle, the affidavit states. Police reportedly saw him engage in a drug transaction with a woman. Both Jenkins and the woman had stamp bags of suspected heroin that were identicially marked. She will be charged at a later date, police said. He is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set early Wednesday by District Judge Mark Wilson.
Simple assault charge: Quiote Marie Guarino, 22, of 630 Fayette St., Washington, was charged with simple assault after allegedly punching and kicking a woman in the 700 block of West Chestnut Street near midnight on March 24, city police said.
