Waynesburg man wanted in Mt. Pleasant chase

April 11, 2014

Mt. Pleasant Township police will obtain an arrest warrant for a Waynesburg man who fled when an officer tried to pull him over for speeding Thursday.

Joshua K. Eddy, 30, of 275 Washington Road, is also wanted on a detainer from Greene County adult probation.

Police Chief Louis McQuillan said an officer tried to stop a car for speeding about 5:15 p.m. on Henderson Road (Route 18) when the driver, later identified as Eddy, took off.

“He was going out Henderson toward Route 50 and started passing vehicles, running some of them off the road,” McQuillan said. “He continued on Routes 50/18 and then turned down Burgettstown Road (Route 18).”

The chief said Eddy drove about three-quarters of a mile down Route 18 before pulling in a driveway and fleeing on foot.

“The passenger stayed behind so we were able to get an identification,” McQuillan said.

Cecil Township police Officer Jeff Holt and his dog Miner searched the area with assistance from McDonald police and officers from Hanover and Smith townships and Washington County sheriff’s deputies.

Mt. Pleasant police will charge Eddy with fleeing and eluding police, reckless endangerment, flight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest and numerous traffic violations. McQuillan said that he is also wanted on a detainer in Greene County stemming from a conviction on drug charges. Police said there is also a notation on Eddy’s file that he is a flight and escape risk and has a tendency of violence toward police.

Anyone with information on Eddy’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
