Police Beat April 25
Luring attempt: Two women walking in the 200 and 300 blocks of Third Street told California police that several Hispanic and black men got out of a dark sport utility vehicle Wednesday night and attempted to lure them inside the vehicle. Police also received information there have been posts on Facebook and Twitter about the incident. Police encourage those involved to contact 911 so officers can respond directly.
Harassment charges: Rachel M. Whipkey, 32, of Washington, and Cassandra B. Ayre, 25, of Avella, will be charged by state police with harassment stemming from a physical confrontation Monday at 887 Henderson Ave., Canton. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Disorderly charge: John Baer II, 59, of Washington, was charged with disorderly conduct by state police after he allegedly chased a vehicle driven by Melissa Jo Smith of Washington, with a tire iron Wednesday on Key Avenue, Canton. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Tools stolen: David Ainscough, 140 Mawhinney Road, reported several tools were stolen from his work van, township police said. Ainscough said he last saw the tools in February and discovered them missing Wednesday. Stolen were a quickie saw, valued at $1,200, a bull float, valued at $125, and three bull float handles, each valued at $30, police said.
Assault charge: Randy Ray Coen Sr., 52, of 79 First St., Independence, was arrested Wednesday afternoon by state police for allegedly assaulting Catherine Coen at their home. He was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was released from Washington County jail after posting $5,000 bond.
Theft charge: Paul M. Precopia, 84, of 113 Church St., Midway, was charged Thursday by McDonald police with theft of services after he reportedly failed to pay the borough for a $137.64 garbage bill. He told police it was the responsibility of his tenant to pay. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
Clubs, motorbike stolen: Michael Steratore, 2032 Meadowbridge Drive, told North Strabane police Wednesday that golf clubs and a motorbike were stolen from his garage. The items were recovered in a yard across the street.
Window damaged: Robin Wolf, 10 Wolf’s Grandview Lane, told North Strabane police Wednesday that a picture window in his home was shot with a pellet gun.
Harassment, disorderly charges: Robert L. Reyes, 33, of Sterling Heights, Mich., was charged Thursday by Smith police with harassment and disorderly conduct. He is accused of making threatening telephone calls to his former girlfriend, Darcie Williams, at her Smith home earlier this month. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
