Parents charged: California police charged the parents of five students at California Middle School with violating the compulsory school attendance law. Police filed the charges after the parents reportedly ignored warning letters sent by the school district. The names of the parents were not released by police. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Access device fraud: Sarafina Scagline, 27, of 808 Somerset Ave., Monessen, is charged by borough police with two counts of access device fraud, accused of using a credit card belonging to Shalia Stitch of Donora to purchase food at area restaurants March 4 without permission, court records state. She is in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond after being arrested on a warrant and arraigned Friday before District Judge Mark Wilson.
Obstruction, resisting arrest: Maya M. Lawson, 31, of 233 Allen Ave., Donora, is charged by borough police with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest, accused of preventing an officer from apprehending a man he was chasing after the suspect ran into her residence, court records state. She is in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond after being arrested on a warrant and arraigned Thursday by District Judge Mark Wilson.
Drug, paraphernalia charges: Christopher Michael Nemeth, 41, of Oakdale, was charged Thursday by McDonald police with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on Valley Street. He was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Criminal mischief: The passenger window of a pickup truck parked at a residence on Longvue Drive in McMurray was shattered between 9 p.m. Wednesday and when the incident was reported at 1:51 p.m. Thursday, township police said.
Heroin, paraphernalia charges: Travis J. Blackburn, 22, of 114 Locust Road, Coal Center, was charged Wednesday by state police with possession of heroin and paraphernalia, driving under the influence of heroin and cocaine, and careless driving stemming from an April 15 traffic stop on Interstate 70 eastbound near the Beau Street exit in South Strabane Township. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Father charged: Patrick E. Crumpton, 31, of 100 Shirley Ann Drive, South Strabane Township, will be charged by South Strabane police with leaving a child unattended in a vehicle after allegedly leaving his child alone in a car while he was in Giant Eagle at Strabane Square Tuesday. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Marijuana, paraphernalia charges: Ron Derek Miller, 26, of Bethel Park will be charged by Southwest Regional police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia stemming from a traffic stop Monday at the intersection of Route 88 and Carrdox Road in Union. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge James Ellis.
