Two Carmichaels men arrested in drug sale
CARMICHAELS – Two Carmichaels men were arrested Wednesday by Cumberland Township police when they allegedly attempted to sell an undercover officer prescription drugs.
Peter Moldovan IV, 28, of No. 84 Route 21 Mobile Home Park, and Cody A. Kuntz, 21, of 54 Cumberland Village, were each charged with felony counts of conspiracy and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
Moldovan also was charged with felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility.
Kuntz was charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance.
In criminal complaints, police alleged an undercover officer with the department made controlled buys from Moldovan in the past and Moldovan contacted the officer several times by text message attempting to sell Subutex and Klonopin.
Police said they received a test message from Moldovan Wednesday asking the officer if he was looking for drugs and indicating he had Subutex, a drug prescribed for opiate addiction.
In subsequent messages, Moldovan agreed to meet the undercover officer in the Sheetz parking lot in Cumberland Township to sell him 10 Subutex pills and told the officer he would be in a gold Ford Taurus.
Police said they went to the Sheetz store and found Moldovan and Kuntz in the vehicle.
In his front pocket, police said Kuntz had a prescription pill bottle belonging to him containing 60 Subutex pills. The pill bottle indicated the prescription for 84 pills was filled that day.
Another 10 pills were found in a plastic cigarette wrapper on Muldovan, police said. After being read his rights, Kuntz admitted giving Moldovan the 10 pills and said they were at Sheetz to meet a friend of Moldovans.
Both men were arraigned on the charges before District Judge Lou Dayich in Waynesburg and placed in the Greene County jail on $7,500 bond. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. June 11.
