Grateful to Waynesburg University

  • June 22, 2014

After reading about how many things are wrong with the Peoples Bank Building in downtown Waynesburg, we should be applauding Waynesburg University for finally doing something about this wreck of a building that was falling apart when I worked at Community Action Southwest as coordinator of daycare homes about 30 years ago.

Many people believe the university has improved the community with all the new and upgraded buildings, not to mention its strong student service mission, where many students serve our community in numerous areas. Considering the impact to our community of the university’s annual payroll, plus its many other gifts, we are far ahead in the cost-benefit ratio. I, for one, am grateful that Waynesburg University is trying to improve our town.
