Franklin Township man charged in two burglaries at business
WAYNESBURG – State police in Waynesburg charged a Franklin Township man with burglarizing Thralls Contracting in Waynesburg twice in June.
Steven Eugene Hodgson, 25, of 172 Tollgate Run Road, Waynesburg, is charged with entering a building not adapted for overnight accommodations, and criminal trespass in both a June 19 and June 27 incident at the business. An additional charge of theft by unlawful taking was filed against Hodgson in the June 19 burglary.
Police said video surveillance provided to them that showed Hodgson remove a window air conditioner on these dates to gain entry through a side window of Thralls Contracting.
On June 19, Hodgson allegedly stole a 5-gallon water jug containing $250 in coins, exiting through the same window.
Hodgson replaced the air conditioner in the window before leaving.
On June 28, Hodgson allegedly removed the air conditioning unit a second time to gain entry to the business where police said he opened two pieces of mail on a desk and moved other items in the office before exiting and replacing the air conditioner.
According to a criminal complaint filed before Greene County Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates, Hodgson confessed to the June 19 burglary and told police he entered the building June 28 looking for money.
Preliminary hearings in both cases are scheduled for July 9 before Bates.
