Five-vehicle crash: With traffic suddenly stopped ahead, five vehicles crashed in a chain reaction around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on the northbound side of Interstate 79 near mile marker 46.8. State police in Washington said there were no injuries or charges filed, and identified the drivers as Joseph E. Crenshaw, 45, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Casey L. Caltuna, 34, of Washington; Lacey R. Levers, 19, of Washington; Barry W. Bolen, 27, of Prestonburg, Ky.; and Bradley D. Williams, 46. of Lafargeville, N.Y. Police said two cars and a tractor-trailer were towed from the scene.


Sobriety checkpoint: Members of the Washington state police Patrol Unit set up a sobriety checkpoint Thursday evening at Route 18 and Old Plank Road. The Operation Strikeforce checkpoint resulted in three charges of driving while under the influence, 22 traffic citations and six written warnings.
