Police beat July 16
Burglary reported: Pamela Salat of 426 Duquesne Ave. told Canonsburg police Monday that a burglar entered her home through a window and stole $900 in items including electronic equipment.
Intimidation arrest: Chase Reed Peliserro, 23, of 429 Second St., Donora, was arrested Monday by Carroll police on charges of intimidation of witnesses, stalking, harassment, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. He is accused of going to a Carroll home last month and intimidating witnesses who are to testify against him in a previous case. He also allegedly went to the workplace of one of the witnesses. He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Fraud: Residents of a home on Highland Drive, McDonald, reported to township police that information from the wife, husband and son was used to file fraudulent federal tax returns. The fraud was reported at 9:40 a.m. Monday.
Drug charges: Frank David Hamm, 43, of McKeesport, was arrested Monday night by Donora police on charges of possession of heroin and paraphernalia and disorderly conduct stemming from a traffic stop on McKean Avenue. He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Truck stolen, damaged: State police said a 2012 Caterpillar articulated dump truck was reported stolen from the Anderson excavating site on Rocky Run Road, East Finley, between June 30 and Monday. The truck, valued at $400,000, was driven three miles into a wooded area and crashed into a group of large trees, doing $20,000 in damage. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 724-223-5200.
Fuel stolen: McDonald police said almost $65 in fuel was stolen from TJ’s Deli Mart, 357 E. Lincoln Ave., Sunday morning by a driver of a tan Chevrolet Blazer. When the clerk tried to get the registration, she discovered the plate was obscured by black tape.
Suspicious men: McDonald police were called about midnight Friday to North Main Street, Midway, for a report of two men walking around wearing masks. A witness told police that he chased the men. Three men, including one not wearing a mask, got into a red car and fled toward Midway-Candor Road.
Drug arrest: Christopher Madera, 36, of 55 Milbeck Drive, North Franklin, was charged Sunday by North Franklin police with possession of heroin and a traffic violation stemming from a traffic stop in the 1300 block of West Chestnut Street. Madera was placed in Washington County jail on a probation detainer. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Drug charges: Three men face drug charges following a traffic stop at 2:06 a.m. Sunday. Township police said a vehicle driven by Christian Petrozza, 19, of 112 Fox Creek Road, Venetia, was seen traveling without lights on East McMurray Road and was stopped by an officer in front of 3907 Washington Road. The officer reportedly detected the odor of marijuana and saw a bag of suspected marijuana in the vehicle. The officer said he noticed a front-seat passenger, Chase A. Longo, 19, of 417 Walnut St., Emlenton, moving his hand around his waist, and that when he left the vehicle, a chunk of marijuana was stuck to the front of his T-shirt. A rear-seat passenger, Cole G. Marks, 20, of 100 Abbey Court, Venetia, admitted to having marijuana and paraphernalia in the vehicle, police said. A grinder and rolling papers were later discovered, according to police. Petrozza, Longo and Marks were charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, and Marks also was charged with purchase and consumption of alcohol. The charges were filed Tuesday and will be sent by summons.
One injured: Dana Milliken, 27, of Waynesburg, was slightly injured when a vehicle in which she was a passenger, driven by Samantha Milliken, 23, of Waynesburg, collided with a vehicle driven by James Petrone, 42, of Van Meter, Westmoreland County, at the intersection of Route 136 and Brownlee Road, Somerset. State police said Petrone pulled into their path from a stop sign.
DUI charge: Jason K. Zedlar, 37, of 338 Quarry Road, South Strabane, will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after he crashed his vehicle into the rear of a vehicle driven by Garrett Hettman of Washington on Monday afternoon in the 1500 block of East Maiden Street, South Strabane police said. Police said his blood-alcohol content was almost three times the 0.08 percent limit presumed for intoxication.
Vehicle damaged: Peggy Gregor of Chevy Chase Drive, Union, told Southwest Regional police Sunday the mirrors, windshield wipers and driver’s side hood of her vehicle were damaged by vandals.
Motorcyclist injured: Kevin S. Mansfield, 28, of Bethel Park, was injured Saturday when his motorcycle crashed in the 300 block of Patterson Road, Union, Southwest Regional police said.
Man cited twice in week: A Washington man was cited for marijuana possession twice in one week following separate traffic stops by state police in the city. Troopers said they stopped Corey W. Dorsey, 27, of 225 Hayes Ave., on July 3 along Oakland Avenue, and found him with a small amount of marijuana. Police said he also gave troopers a false name and was driving on a suspended license. Shortly after midnight July 10, state police once again stopped Dorsey and said he was intoxicated and in possession of marijuana. He faces additional charges of DUI, possession of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license.
Single-car crash: State police said they charged Larissa N. Schmidt, 27, of 1200 Deerfield Road, South Franklin, with driving under the influence, careless driving and reckless driving following a single-car crash July 9. The crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. at Murtland and Linn avenues near the state police barracks in Washington.
Domestic dispute: Tracy Wharton, 54, of 97 W. Walnut St., Washington, was cited for harassment following a fight July 5 with Thurman Isbell, 64, at their apartment. Isbell also was cited for harassment following the incident.
Marijuana charge: David Ebron, 32, of 289 E. Prospect Ave., Washington, was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana after the car in which he was a passenger was stopped in the 1100 block of Jefferson Avenue early Friday, state police said.
