August 15, 2014

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Keilani Ricketts threw a one-hit shutout and Krystn Sandberg hit a two-run homer Friday night as the USSSA Pride blanked the Rebellion, 4-0.

The win clinched at least a tie for the National Pro Fastpitch regular-season title for the Pride (32-14).

It was the second consecutive one-hit shutout for a Pride pitcher against the Rebellion (8-38), who have lost 10 in a row. Ricketts allowed only a leadoff single in the top of the second inning by Lauren Lappin. Ricketts issued one walk and struck out five.

Rebellion starter Sarah Pauley pitched four shutout innings. The Pride did all their scoring against reliever Bryanna Walker. USSSA got run-scoring hits in the fifth by Amanda Kamekona and Caitlin Lowe for a 2-0 lead, and Sandberg homered in the sixth.

The teams will conclude the regular season today with a doubleheader.
