The Observer-Reporter turns 200
On August 15, 1808, the first issue of The Reporter was printed on a hand press in the cellar of a tavern in Washington, Pennsylvania, then just a village of a thousand souls on the edge of the American frontier. Two hundred years later, today's Observer-Reporter is that venerable old paper's direct descendant. To honor this long and proud tradition of community journalism, the Observer-Reporter will publish a special commemorative book on our area's history, through the eys of the Observer-Reporter. 200 Years will feature hundreds of photos of local historical interest from the newspaper's archives and reproductions of many front pages, and will also include a DVD on the history of The Reporter, complete with interviews and additional rare photos and film.
Books can be ordered now at the pre-publication discount price of $29.95 plus tax. After publication in November, a limited number of copies will be available at $39.95 plus tax. 200 years is in production now, and will be available before Christmas this year. Order now to save.
