CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive says there is no reason to have a "public hanging" when game officials make bad calls.

Speaking to a Chattanooga civic club Thursday, Slive was asked why the SEC doesn't publicly reprimand game officials for mistakes.

The league has acknowledged there was a bad call this past weekend when Georgia receiver A.J. Green was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.

He says the SEC has an accountability system for officials and if somebody is not good enough they won't stay. The commissioner says he's "just never felt that a public hanging in the square" will make better officials.

Slive also talked about the SEC's lucrative TV deals and says he does not favor a football playoff.

Oklahoma waiting on Bradford: Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops is waiting another day to make a decision on whether Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford will play against Baylor on Saturday.

Stoops had said at the start of the week that he didn't plan to announce whether Bradford would play until Thursday. But Sooners spokesman Kenny Mossman said Thursday that Stoops had put off the decision until Friday.

Bradford has missed the past three games for No. 19 Oklahoma (2-2) with a sprained AC joint in his right, throwing shoulder.

Redshirt freshman Landry Jones has started in place of Bradford, winning back-to-back shutouts against Idaho State and Tulsa before a 21-20 loss at Miami last week.

Bradford has said he hoped to play this week to prepare for next week's game against No. 2 Texas.

Cincinnati on the move: Eighth-ranked Cincinnati is quite adept at extreme makeovers.

Last season, tight end Connor Barwin moved from tight end to defensive end and led the Big East in sacks while the Bearcats won their first league title. This season has been more of the same.

The Bearcats (5-0) opened with four linebackers who came to Cincinnati as offensive stars. They've also got a defensive end who was a running back, and Marcus Barnett, who has started at cornerback and receiver in back-to-back games.

Coach Brian Kelly says it's part of his philosophy of moving players to a spot where they can make an impact rather than letting them stagnate on the bench.

BYU kicks DB off team: BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall has kicked defensive back Shiloah Te'o off the team.

Provo City Justice Court records show that Te'o was charged Sept. 18 with driving under the influence from an arrest in August.

Mendenhall said in a statement Tuesday that Te'o has been dismissed for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

He told The Salt Lake Tribune for a story posted online Wednesday that he learned of the charge over the weekend, then decided to dismiss the sophomore safety after practice Tuesday night.

Students at the Mormon church-owned school agree to live by BYU's honor code, which forbids drinking alcohol.

Bryant played through investigation: All-America receiver Dez Bryant played in Oklahoma State's first three games of the season while compliance officials were investigating an apparent meeting with former NFL players Deion Sanders and Omar Stoutmire that he later lied about to the NCAA.

According to documents released by the university Thursday, OSU suggested to the NCAA that it should interview Sanders and Stoutmire because they were "purported to work out" with Bryant.

The documents also show that the university and the NCAA also had an inquiry into a cell phone that Bryant was using that did not belong to him.

Oklahoma State declared Bryant ineligible Wednesday because he had broken NCAA rules by withholding information about the meeting from the NCAA.
