Wash Arts' 'Rhythms of Joy' features African dance company
It will feature a performance by Afrika Yetu's Wacongo Dance Company, a traditional ensemble of master drummers, musicians and dancers from the Democratic Republic of Congo. They'll be performing ancestral music of Central Africa.

A tradition of the holiday season, Light-Up Night is scheduled for downtown Pittsburgh tonight.
Live entertainment of all kinds, tree-lighting ceremonies, the unveiling of Macy's holiday window display and a fireworks extravaganza are planned. A party on the Roberto Clemente Bridge is set to start at 7:30 p.m. featuring the oldies band Johnny Angel and the Halos.

Robotics toy unveiled at Science Center
California University of Pennsylvania is hosting the unveiling of Roboni-i, a robotics toy, at Carnegie Science Center Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The toy is the world's first programmable gaming robot and features 360-degree movement, 16 sensors and four processors. Roboni-i plays games, does tricks and navigates itself.

Three Rivers Film Festival closes
The Three Rivers Film Festival will come to a close this weekend after presenting two weeks of independent, foreign, classic and locally made movies.
The Boston-based Alloy Orchestra, which provides fresh scores for silent films and has become a festival mainstay, will be cooking up live soundtracks for two movies Saturday. First is "The Black Pirate," with Douglas Fairbanks, at 4 p.m. at the Regent Square Theater. This will be followed at 8 p.m. by "Man with a Movie Camera," a 1929 film from the Soviet Union by Dziga Vertov. It also will be screened at the Regent Square Theater.

Music of Fab Four
at Heinz Hall
The Pittsburgh Symphony Pops is presenting music by the Beatles at Heinz Hall through Sunday.
The PSO will be joined by Classical Mystery Tour, four guys who look and sound like the Fab Four. The program will include songs everyone knows, including "All You Need is Love," "Penny Lane" and "Eleanor Rigby."

History Center hosts heritage weekend
The Senator John Heinz History Center is hosting its annual Heritage Holiday Weekend Saturday and Sunday.
It celebrates the region's cultural diversity with music, dancing, food and hands-on activities from more than 30 ethnic and heritage groups from Western Pennsylvania.

Cheesecake debut
at Off the Wall
Washington singer Patrick Arena is teaming up with former members of the vocal group the Accidentals for a new vocal jazz and swing group called Cheesecake. They'll be making their debut performance at Off the Wall Theater in downtown Washington tonight at 7:30.

MVH to celebrate
25th Light-Up Night
Monongahela Valley Hospital will celebrate a 25-year tradition Monday with Light-Up Night.
Festivities begin at 7 p.m. in the hospital's outdoor Central Plaza. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be on hand, and children will receive a treat.
A holiday sing-along will be led by Razz-Ma-Tazz from Ringgold High School, and the MVH Auxiliary will sponsor a a bake sale in the hospital lobby. MVH Nutrition and Food Service will serve complimentary refreshments.

Artists' Co-op hosts holiday open house
The Artists' Co-op, 30 E. Beau St., Washington, will hold its holiday open house from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 27.
