J-M sees decrease in fund balance
JEFFERSON - An audit presented Tuesday to Jefferson-Morgan School Board for the year ending June 30 showed the district in compliance with all accounting standards but noted a decrease in the district's fund balance.

WAYNESBURG - Central Greene School Board received its annual audit report Tuesday from Steven Cypher of Cypher and Cypher, who told the board it had no instances of noncompliance and no significant deficiencies.

American Red Cross will conduct a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. today in the Guesman Room at Southwest Regional Medical Center. Every two seconds, someone in this country needs blood. Blood products are needed by cancer patients, people with blood disorders, trauma victims, surgical patients and more. Southwest Regional Medical Center alone uses approximately 600 units of blood a year. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited two Waynesburg clubs for liquor law violations. Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461, 240 S. Morgan St., was cited for failing to keep records for the previous two years.

Conditions of 3 injured in I-79 incident upgraded
The conditions of the three people injured after an early morning accident Monday on Interstate 79 have been upgraded. Two Waynesburg University nursing students, Alyssa Boyle, 22, of Salem, Ohio, and Cami Abernethy, 21, of Sewickley, and Derek Hartzog, 21, of Washington, were listed in fair condition Tuesday at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

Two Waynesburg University senior nursing students were on their way to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., early Monday for advanced training when they came across an accident shortly after 6 a.m. on Interstate 79 in Perry Township.

W.Va. sheriff's sergeant killed in DUI chase
A West Virginia sheriff's sergeant died early Saturday when his patrol vehicle was struck on Interstate 79 in Greene County by a truck driven by a suspected drunken driver police say was fleeing an earlier hit-and-run crash.
