State police arrested and charged a Crucible man in connection with two robberies in Carmichaels Sept. 8 and 25.

Lodged in Greene County Jail on $100,000 cash bond is Nicholas R. Celli, 27, of 315 Fifth Ave. He is charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, reckless endangerment, theft, corruption of minors and receiving stolen property.

These charges are in connection with an incident Sept. 8 at 700 W. George St., Carmichaels.

According to a police affidavit, Edward Bauer reported that as he was getting out from his car he had just parked in his garage, two men grabbed him from behind, took his wallet and threw him to the ground.

Bauer told police his wallet contained $70 and that the two men fled the garage and ran to the back of his residence. When he reached his feet, they were gone.

Celli also has been charged, along with several others, with a Sept. 25 robbery at Sam's Auto along Eighty Eight Road.

Celli and a juvenile were implicated in the robbery of Samuel Calabris outside his business. Celli is Calabris' grandson, according to police. Celli and the boy are accused of assaulting Calabris and stealing his wallet, which contained $600 in cash.

Also charged are Julie Lynn Borden, 24, of 315 Fifth Ave., Crucible, who was allegedly present while Celli and the juvenile planned the robbery. Borden, her two young children, and another woman, Teena Sutton, were allegedly waiting in a car parked near Sam's Auto while the robbery took place.

Police said Sutton later used that money to buy heroin in Pittsburgh and Borden and her children allegedly accompanied Sutton on the trip.

Borden was charged with criminal conspiracy, two counts of endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy. She was arraigned before District Judge Lee Watson and jailed on $50,000 bail.

Celli and Sutton were implicated in other crimes that occurred in Greene County, including the Sept. 25 robbery and Sept. 27 theft at Marathon gas station in Mt. Morris and the Sept. 27 mugging of an elderly woman at the Dry Tavern Giant Eagle.

Celli allegedly took part in the robbery and mugging while Sutton drove the getaway vehicle and stole money from the gas station.
