Events planned to honor veterans
The Waynesburg Veterans Day parade will be held at 11 a.m. today. The parade will form in the county parking lot at Morgan Street and Strawberry Alley. Proceeding west along Strawberry Alley, it will then continue onto Washington and High streets.
A program at the Greene County Courthouse will follow, featuring speaker Maj. Todd Moore of Waynesburg, a U.S. Army and Army National Guard veteran. A 21-gun salute and entertainment by the Wells family also will be featured. Following the program, James Farrell American Legion Post 330 of Waynesburg will host refreshments.
On Sunday, a Veterans Day program will be held at noon at Rogersville United Methodist Church following Sunday church services. The speaker will be the Rev. William Parker, who will recognize all veterans and their service.

A program will begin at 11:45 a.m. in the school's Stanley Fowler Auditorium, with Greene County Commissioner Dave Coder as speaker. The Post Everlasting Ceremony will close the service.
In honor of Veterans Day, the Greene County Veterans Affairs office would like to remind any World War II veteran who received the Combat Infantry or Infantryman Badge or the Combat Medical Badge and was honorably discharged that he or she is eligible to receive the Bronze Star.
If the veteran is deceased, the next of kin may apply on the veteran's behalf. Veterans should contact the Veterans Affairs office to find out how to request their medals.
All Greene County offices will be closed Wednesday in observance of the holiday.
