Five hurt in crash
City police said the driver of the sport utility vehicle, Jean-Henri Yandell, 31, of 430 Addison St., Washington, was driving east on Jefferson onto West Maiden and apparently went around the curve too quickly.
Washington fire Chief Linn Brookman said the vehicle may have hit the curb. The vehicle became airborne, traveling about 30 yards before hitting the side of the building about two feet above the ground.
"They were lucky," Brookman said of the occupants. "Another half-foot and they would have hit a concrete pillar that runs down through the building."
