A 39-year-old Cecil woman, Shawna Lynn Pigford, was killed in a one-vehicle accident on Route 980 Wednesday night.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said Pigford was traveling south on Route 980 when she lost control while approaching a slight left turn in the road about 175 feet from Coleman Road.

Pigford, of Bishop Alley, was alone in the vehicle when she lost control and drove into a wooded area off the southbound lane, Warco said.

The vehicle struck several trees. Pigford died of multiple injuries, and Warco ruled her death accidental. She was pronounced dead at 9:55 p.m.
