Fans line up early for Palin

More than 18 hours before Sarah Palin was due to arrive at Sam's Club in South Strabane Township, Steven Zerbini and Jim Baney were first in line.

The two men met behind the store where a gated enclosure was set up to allow 1,000 people in to see Palin today. Palin will be signing her new book, "Going Rogue," at the discount club between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Zerbini, from Salem Township, and Baney, from Cranberry Township, did not know each other before arriving at nearly the same time Friday afternoon. But they were becoming fast friends alo ng with the 40 or so other Palin admirers who had queued up as of 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The same scenario has occurred in other towns, where people have camped out or stood in line for hours to see Palin and get her signature. However, at Noblesville, Ind., Palin left before some people, wearing the wrist bands that were purported to guarantee them the opportunity to see the former governor of Alaska face to face, got their books signed.

That will not be the case for first-comers Zerbini and Baney, who each had purchased two books and said one was to keep and the other to be given as a Christmas gift.

This is Palin's second trip to the Washington area. In August 2008, she arrived with Republican presidential nominee John McCain a day after he named her as his running mate.

Kathy Martin-Nomura and her husband, Randy, traveled from Hagerstown, Md., to South Strabane. Mrs. Martin-Nomura said they were planning a trip to the Poconos and decided it would require less driving if they stopped to see Palin rather than traveling to Rochester, N.Y. Rochester is Palin's next stop on her book-signing tour.

Those arriving had brought blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, chairs, thermoses of coffee and extra clothing. Zerbini's chair broke after a couple of hours, so he ran inside to Sam's and purchased another.

He said Palin is likable because she is a down-to-earth conservative woman. "She hunts," he added.

Palin can write?! : 11/21/2009
People are actually waiting in line to see Palin and have their books signed? What a complete waste of time! The book must be well written though, because Sarah Palin is definitely an eloquent, well educated, and well informed citizen. And she hunts!

BETTER THAN OBAMA : 11/22/2009
At least Sara Palin is not trying to take over 1/6th of this country's economy like Barack (The Baby Jesus) Obama is advocating. Further she is not leaving our soldiers twisting in the wind by not sending the additional troops to Afghanistan, like Obama is doing. Obama is the 'REAL JOKE" not Sara Palin.

She is way more impressive in person and I would like to put her in Pelosi's chair NOW
