CHARLEROI - Firefighters battled a suspicious blaze Tuesday night at a vacant house that had been set on fire six months ago.

Charleroi fire Chief Robert Whiten Jr. said the fire broke out at 931 Crest Ave. at 11:10 p.m.

A coffee can filled with gasoline was seized as evidence and Whiten said investigators hope to lift fingerprints from it.

On May 24, a fire at the same house was ruled arson. A fire marshal is investigating this blaze too, Whiten said.

An addition at the back of the house caught fire. The blaze extended into the kitchen area. Firefighters extinguished the flames in 10 to 15 minutes.

Firefighters from Lock No. 4, Fallowfield and Bentleyville and Mon Valley EMS also responded.

One firefighter had to have stitches in a finger after it was smashed while breaking in a door. The house is owned by Timothy Rodabaugh. This is the first suspicious house fire since the arrest in May of two juveniles who confessed to starting a blaze in a vacant home on Lookout Avenue.
