Letter to the Sports Editor
Steelers benefit again from lousy officiating

This article has been read 1247 times.

Well, it goes unmentioned again by the Pittsburgh media. Yes, another game, along with the last two Super Bowls and last two Ravens games, given to the Steelers because of crooked officiating against their opponent.

The Vikings had a touchdown called back on a penalty that wasn't a penalty. The TV announcers said it was a bad call. Then, a delay of game against the Vikings' defense. Once again, another bad call to give the Steelers a first down. The Steelers' media is biased and turns a blind eye toward bad calls against the Steelers' opponents and it goes unmentioned.

If you know the rules of football, you'll know there have been far more bad calls against the Steelers' opponents than the Steelers. And as far as Steelers fans go, they know very little about football, only that Steelers games mean partying and tailgating six hours before gametime. All the fans are a bunch of drunks who view the game to drink and wave those stupid, childish, irritating towels, having no knowledge of what is even going on.

Six Super Bowls is the bottom line and no matter what Stadium the Steelers are playing in the Steeler fans are there in abundance. It's not the Referees calls but raw talent. Move to Cleveland with the other losers Bill

You are a very angry person. Grow up. Try to enjoy the game instead of complaining about things you can't change or don't like. Try to find something in life that you can be happy about. If you don't lilke the officials and the fans...put on the cartoon network.

Take a chill it's entertainment, not brain surgery. Bad calls go both ways all the time you just have to live with it. If people are enjoying themselves while watching a football so be it.

re: Mr Bodnar, seem you forget to mention all the bad calls against the STEELERS as well, we had a touchdown called back as well. Our defense, specifically Harrision is always being held. Thats football, there are bad calls and good calls. The Steelers have had their share of the bad onnes. Seems you forget the league apologizing TWICE for blatant bad calls against the Steelers that cost us games. To me, it seems more like, what are these officials looking at? Not just in our favor but overall, there are a lot of bad calls, but as I siad that is football and in all sports. So, you have to take the bad along with the good. I believe the NFL is trying to make a simple game to difficult, get rid of the replays and let it be a PEOPLES game because even replay doesn't always get it right! This just slows down and disrupts the game. How many times you see any team getting on a ROLL and then there is some time out, replay, etc which was not needed and this does affect the teams play.

How would the games have ended had the calls been different? The Steelers probably still would have won. They almost always do bad calls or not. Officiating is part of the game. Sometimes the officials make mistakes. Sometimes the players do. All of this does not matter to Steelers fans. History cannot be changed. The Steelers won the games. The fans are probably happy the calls went their way. It adds to the whole aura of Steelers Nation. So what if the Steelers fans do not know much about football. What does it matter? They cheer for their team and have fun. Lots of people do not understand the game of football. Who cares? They can still cheer for their team. So what if the fans tailgate before the games. They are having fun. The game is an event for them. So what if they wave towels at the game. They are cheering for their team. Who cares? They are having fun. Counseling and medication can be effective in overcoming social disorders and anxieties.

Sounds like somebody who is tired of their favorite team being no good and has to invent things to complain about

What a dumb comment. Seriously. The guy threw his body and whipped his leg up. Classic trip call. Just because Moose Johnston called it a bad call doesn't make it so. Learn the game before you come around making asinine remarks. Both teams had TDs called back on ticky tack calls. The Steelers dealt with it, even dealt with the blatant hold on Harvin's kick return. So go back to Seattle, whiner.

Bill Bodner should do some research about the officiating if he thinks the Steelers ae favored. It is the other way around
